Vă mulţumim că v-aţi înregistrat ca utilizator la Wikipedia. Probabil că la început veţi avea multe nedumeriri şi întrebări: cum se modifică articolele, ce putem şi ce nu putem scrie în ele şi aşa mai departe. Am pregătit o pagină de bun venit (←apăsaţi aici) care vă poate îndruma. Nu vă fie teamă de greşeli, suntem aici pentru a vă ajuta.

În ce domenii aţi dori să contribuiţi? Poate să fie specialitatea dumneavoastră sau un domeniu pentru care aveţi o pasiune aparte. Aveţi la dispoziţie propria pagină de utilizator (vedeţi sus de tot unde scrie pagină de utilizator sau sus unde scrie numele dumneavoastră de utilizator, FrancisTyers) în care să vă prezentaţi pe scurt dacă doriţi.

Pentru a semna — dar numai în paginile de discuţii şi nu în articole — scrieţi la sfârşitul mesajului patru tilde ~~~~; Wikipedia vi le va transforma automat în semnătură şi dată, aşa cum semnez şi eu acest mesaj. Vă aşteptăm cu primele contribuţii!

Hello,

I think that the correct Romanian translation for county is "comitat", and I think that we will use that. I plan to develop the articles about the english counties and regions the same way that I did to french departments and regions [Departamentele Franţei]] and Regiunile Franţei. I must aknowledge though that the english county system is far more complicated and I need some time to figure it out. For example I cannot much of a difference between the en:Metropolitan and non-metropolitan counties of England and the en:Ceremonial counties of England. I think the later ones are more intresting and the difference is that inside some of them there are some subdivisions relatet to the towns and cities and their agglomerations which have also their own authority between the local authority and the county level administration. Hi Francis. I see Orioane got here first. Here is what I was going to write:

I checked and the usual Romanian term for the counties in the UK, Ireland, and the USA is indeed "comitat" as I thought. "Judeţ" appears to be used only for regions in Romania. We actually had this discussion about a year ago, see here.

By the way, your Romanian is pretty much accurate, except for "schimbă-te", which would mean "change your personality" or "change your clothes". Better say "Schimbă tu dacă vrei". Cheers! — AdiJapan ☎ 8 martie 2006 14:21 (EET)

Tunisia

Hello Francis,

I've corrected your edit at the Tunisia article here. You missposed the genitive form for Africa, which in Romanian is Africii. In Ro the genitive form is a suffix at the end of the word instead of the particle of in English. The suffix replaces the last letter and always ends in "i" and it has either an "e" or an "i" in front of it and choosing between "e" and "i" is related to prononciation (the most common is e). In the case of Africa - Africei is also correct, but it is an old form. Also country - ţară is feminine so it is "cea mai mică ţară", "cel mai mic" being a masculine form. A rule of the thumb in deciding which form to use is that if the substantive ends in a or ă you should use the feminine form, otherwise use the masculin form. Related to the use of coordinates, one uses in Romanian the articulated form of the cardinal poins only when they are related to something, like in the north of Africa where you added correctly nordul. When you use the general form of the cardinal points you do not use the articulate form, so it lies in the west becomes se află în vest. Orioane -^msg- 10 martie 2006 10:32 (EET)

Commas and fullstops

Hi Francis! Just a quick tip for numbers in articles (like population numbers): in Romanian the usage of "," and "." is right the opposite as in English; where in English you would write 12,000 in Romanian you would write 12.000 and 3.14 in English is written 3,14 in Romanian... :) --Vlad|-> 11 martie 2006 11:28 (EET)

• Cu plăcere ! (My pleasure !) Comitat este (County is) un substantiv masculin. (a masculine noun.) Ca atare, (Therefore,) articolul hotărât (the definite article) este (is) ca întotdeauna (as always) în română (in Romanian) postclinic (postclinic) şi ... l (and ... l).
