Zendaya s-a născut pe 1 septembrie 1996, Oakland, California.A crescut făcând parte din " California Shakespeare Theater în Orlando, unde mama ei a lucrat ca manager. Zendaya a ajutat-o pe mama ei la slujbă și în vânzarea de bilete.
Primul ei single a fost Swag it out cu care a avut un mare succes mondial, organizand chiar și un turneu prin America. Zendaya își iubește fanii și îi face mare plăcere să citească mesajele puse de fani pe rețelele de socializare.

Acum locuiește în Los Angeles împreună cu familia ei și un câine, Giant Schnauzer numit Midnight. Interesele ei includ cântatul, dansul și designing-ul. Dansatoare la Shake it up. Cea mai bună prietenă a sa, precum și parteneră la Totul pentru dans, este actrița Bella Thorne, care interpretează rolul lui CeCe Jones.
