Hi and thanks. Actually what you wrote is correct and fits the article nicely. Besides, your Romanian is much better than you think -- if what you say is indeed what you think... I will just make some small adjustments and try to give examples from other languages too. Cheers! — AdiJapan  13 iunie 2006 09:23 (EEST)Răspunde

Biserica lui Isus Hristos a Sfinţilor din Zilele din Urmă[modificare sursă]

Hi! Sorry to bother you, just wanted to tell you that my comment here was just a joke. No hard feelings ? --Venator 15 august 2007 00:54 (EEST)Răspunde

Yes, I think I spotted a few more errors, but they´re just minor errors. We´re really grateful you contribute here. Could you please tell me what was wrong about the South Park episode on Mormons ? I mean besides the "dumb, dumb, dumb" song... --Venator 26 august 2007 18:44 (EEST)Răspunde

How come you decided to study Romanian ?

Well, it´s not about the reputation. Please allow me to summarize that episode : a new kid comes to the South Park elemmentary school. His name is Gary (just like his father´s) and he is a well educated boy, with good grades in his last school, which was in Utah, and with good athletic abilities as well. He does things like volunteering to help the needy, which makes Cartman, Kyle and Kenny laugh. At first, the other kids tell Stan to beat Gary up, but Gary is so nice, that Stan actually accepts an invitation for dinner with Gary´s family. The family is very nice, the four or five children are kind and caring, at least the smallest one is intelligent, the wife can cook very well (and they also save food for the needy), and they have a lot of fun, without watching T.V., because Stan went there in the night where they just had "family fun". Stan´s family has no night like that, and they all seem apathetic, consumed by the sickness of modern-day society. So, Gary´s father ends up reading part of the "Book of Mormon", and when Stan gets home (to a bored family), he asks about all the things the "Harrisons" do, and his family doesn´t. He also mentions the Mormon religion. Stan´s dad thinks the Harrisons were trying to convert Stan, so he angrily rushes there to "kick someone´s ass". But Stan´s dad is so overwhelmed by how nice the Harrisons are, that he stays there for a while, and decides that his family should be Mormon from now on. However, it doesn´t work for them. Stan is teased at school for his friendship with Gary, which is considered "gay" (the friendship), and Stan begins to think that the story about Joseph Smith can´t be true.

That is because he doesn´t believe in white Native Americans, and how Joseph Smith got his revelations, because he handed the beginning of a translation from the golden tablets, using some kind of decoding rocks, to a mister Harris, whose wife told him to pretend that he lost the translation, in order to see if Smith can perform the exact translation again. When he hears about the lost translation, Smith gets angry, and goes to "pray". When he returns, he tells Mr.Harris that God was angry and that he had to translate from the tablets again, saying pretty much the same thing, but in other words. Stan considers that there is no logic in that, except if Smith was actually lying. His family asks the Harrisons to leave, and they continue with their life as usual.

Gary is the only one who seems to be affected by what Stan said. The next day, in the bus station, Gary approaches Stan, and tells him that even if Smith is wrong, the Mormon principles are correct in his opinion, and that he still believes in them, because they allowed him to be happy, and to make other persons happy. And if he can´t get over his religion and accept Gary for what he is as a person, then he´s got a lot of growing up to do. He also tells Stan "Suck my balls", and leaves. Cartman then sais : "Wooooow, he´s so coool"... --Venator 26 august 2007 20:00 (EEST)Răspunde

Nelămurire[modificare sursă]

"Îl ajută pe preşedintele bisericii doi sfătuitori—aceşti trei cuprind Prima Preşedinţie şi un consiliu de Doisprezece Apostoli"

I don´t know what this means. Do you mean by "three" the president and his two advisers ? If so, it can´t be "cuprind" there, not in this form anyway. --Venator 3 septembrie 2007 20:38 (EEST)Răspunde

Articles[modificare sursă]

I´ve created "Joseph Smith" (disambiguation page) and Joseph Smith, Jr. (stub). Also put the links to Joseph Smith, Jr. in the article about Biserica lui Isus Hristos a Sfinţilor din Zilele din Urmă. --Venator 4 septembrie 2007 00:43 (EEST)Răspunde

It´s best to avoid cacophonies in Romanian; some are accepted, like "Biserica catolică", but that´s the exception, not the rule. Best wishes, --Venator 5 septembrie 2007 18:54 (EEST)Răspunde

Drept[modificare sursă]

Well, in order to be POV, it should say there "în mod drept" (which in English means "rightly"), - "Complement circumstanţial de mod" - not just "drept".

For example, "Ei au luat aceasta drept o insultă" is the same as "Ei au luat aceasta ca pe o insultă", and the two phrases have the same meaning : "They considered that to be an insult", which means they were sure it was an insult, but that doesn´t mean they were actually insulted, so it is just a subjective claim. However, if you think the phrase as it is now is not clear, it can be changed. --Venator 10 septembrie 2007 10:03 (EEST)Răspunde
