Aromanian wikipedia has now its own site: http://roa-rup.wikipedia.org/

Ciudat... Ronline 26 Mai 2004 14:00 (UTC)
Not the first; there is also some smaller others that have been created at the same time...
I copied the main page and images, to see how it would look like; the interface is still not translated, and the MediaWiki space isn't enabled yet; so, someone should request for sysop level there, and for the MediaWiki space to be populated (maybe using the LanguageArs.php file if it has already some translations); then the continuation of the translation of the interface can be done trough the MediaWiki namespace.
The strange roa-rup is Aromanian doesn't have an ISO code; so the name has been built with the ISO code roa (=any romanic language) and the SIL code RUP used for Aromanian. Future wikipedias for language without ISO codes will be built in a similar way.
Goog luck!
Thanks. I researched roa-rup and in fact you're right. ROA is Romance language generic code, while Rup is the ethnologue code. I thought ars was the ISO code, but, in further research, it seems there is no such thing... except in Wikipedia. Anyway, I think roa-rup is a bit long and hard to remember. Remember that we're planning on making Aromanian a major Wikipedia, with a few thousand articles. I don't know how roa-rup would look on a large Wikipedia! Then again, ars is incorrect. Look, I really don't know what we should do. Anyway, we'll see what the others say and thanks for setting it up. Ronline 26 Mai 2004 14:28 (UTC) (by the way, how did you get to set it up and are you from the Walon Wikipedia?)

First. The roa-rup code is totaly not acceptable. Variants rup (in the worst case), ars and aro. The sil code will not coincide with any other iso code, so it can be used. It is a nonsense to use such codes, that nobody would try. It is even better to use armaneashti.wikipedia.org.

Second.

Please install the interface located at m:LanguageArs.php. It is quite good for the beginning. The interface is in romanian, but all the links to the page names, the calendar and the preferences page are translated. So Uichipedia instead of Wikipedia, Imaghinâ instead of Image, Raportù di upload instead of Upload log, Ufilisitor instead of User and so on.

Third.

Please install the logo at http://meta.wikipedia.org/upload/2/28/Logo-wiki-ars.png
