Dear Editors,
as the main editor of the Hungarian would-be-featured article of Absinthe, I'd like to note that most of the information here is wrong. Modern GC-MS tests on experimental distillates and vintage absinthes have confirmed that geniune absinthe is not, and had never been any more toxic than other liquors. Its ban seems to have been a result of extreme alcoholism and (frequent, documented) absinthe adulteradion (done with toxic chemicals and low-grade ethanol). Absinthin (absintină) was never regarded as toxic by the way; instead, thujone was singled out for absinthe's "harmful effects".
Many other language absinthe articles provide a good material; hovever, I can verify the English, German and Hungarian ones as fully reliable. - Phoney (discuție) 30 octombrie 2010 03:19 (EEST)
