TMK Artrom[modificare | modificare sursă]

TMK-ARTROM is a Romanian pipe manufacturer[1], located in southern Romania, in the town of Slatina. The plant produces seamless pipes for industrial applications, including for the mechanical engineering and automotive industry[2]. More than 80% of the plant’s output is intended for sales outside of Romania, mainly within other EU countries, the USA, and Canada[3].

TMK-ARTROM manages today all business of the TMK- European Division as General Management Unit for all TMK-European Division’s five companies[4]:

- TMK-ARTROM SA, in Slatina, Romania;

- TMK-RESITA SA, in Resita, Romania;

- TMK-Italia s.r.l, in Lecco, Italy[5];

- TMK-Europe GmbH, in Dusseldorf, Germany;

- TMK-Industrial Solutions LLC in Houston, United States of America.

The scope of the European Division is to manage the entire TMK’s business in the European Countries as well to become the worldwide business hub for the Industrial Pipes applications produced by TMK. In the European market TMK European Division is the sole sales channel for all TMK pipes (industrial pipes and OCTG pipes). In American markets TMK European Division is the sole sales channel for TMK Industrial pipes[6].

TMK-ARTROM was founded in 1982, as a state owned company, under the name IT Slatina and its production started in 1988. It was transformed into a public limited company in 1991, and renamed ARTROM SA. On November 20th 1995 the company listed its shares on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Then ARTROM SA went through the privatization process and became a public private joint-stock company on April 30th, 1999 with the Austrian company STARO Gmbh as its majority shareholder. In 2001, the German company Sinara Handel GmbH (renamed today TMK-EUROPE) bought a controlling stake in ARTROM SA[7]. On March 1st 2006, ARTROM SA joined the world’s second largest pipe producer when it became part of the TMK GROUP of companies and changed its name one last time to TMK-ARTROM.

In February 2007, a new pipe manufacturing line was put into operation – a Cross Piercing Elongator. As a result, the production capacity of TMK-ARTROM now reaches 200,000 tonnes per year[8].

Following a 36 million euro investment, TMK-ARTROM launched in February 2018 a seamless pipe heat treatment line, which allows the company to enhance its segment of premium products for mechanical engineering[9].

Starting with December 2018 TMK-ARTROM acquired the majority stake (99.99%) at TMK Resita which is the sole raw material supplier of TMK-Artrom. In the last years, TMK-ARTROM and TMK Resita were re-built as an integrated production flow. TMK-ARTROM manages today all business of the TMK-European Division as General Management Unit for all TMK-European Division’s companies[10].
