Istoricul obiectului
Deutsch: Der goldene Dreiberg versinnbildlicht die Lage der Gemeinde im Bayerischen Wald und redet für das Namensgrundwort "-berg". Die mit einem goldenen Balken belegte Spaltung von Rot und Silber im vorderen Feld orientiert sich am alten Wappen der im Gemeindegebiet bis zur Säkularisation 1803 als Grundherrschaft bedeutenden Zisterzienserabtei Gotteszell. Der dreireihige blau-silberne Rautenbalken in Rot entstammt dem Wappen der 1569 ausgestorbenen Nußberger, die ebenfalls als Grundherren im Gemeindegebiet von Bedeutung waren. Der Rautenbalken symbolisiert zugleich die Herrschaft der 1242 ausgestorbenen Grafen von Bogen und ihrer Nachfolger, der Wittelsbacher, mit der Farbenfolge Silber-Blau in den Rauten.
