Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Stadt Porz am Rhein seit 1975 Stadtteil von Köln: „In Silber (Weiß) über einem kleinen silbernen (weißen) Schild im Schildfuß, darin ein blau bewehrter steigender roter Löwe, ein vierfach gezinnter roter Turm mit breiter Sockelleiste und offenem Tor, darin ein schwarzes Fallgatter.“
Das vom Heraldiker Wolfgang Pagenstecher geschaffene Wappen wurde am 1935 vom Oberpräsidenten der damaligen Gemeinde Porz (Stadtrechte 1951) sowie dem Amt Porz verliehen. Es geht auf ein Siegel aus dem 14. Jahrhundert zurück. Der Torturm ist redend für den Ortsnamen (abgeleitet von "porta"). der hier kronenlose und einschwänzige Löwe steht für die frühere Zugehörigkeit zum Herzogtum Berg. English: „Argent above an escutcheon Argent, therein an armed and langued azure lion rampant gules.“ The arms were granted on August 8, 1935. The arms show tower with a gate, which is a canting symbol, the name may have been derived from the Latin "porta" (gate). The gate also appeared on the local seal dating from the early 14th century. The lion is the lion of the Counts of Berg, to which the area belonged in medieval times. |
