Palme d'Or (engleză: Golden Palm) este cel mai mare premiu acordat filmelor în competiție la Festivalul de Film de la Cannes. A fost introdus în 1955 de către comitetul de organizare al festivalului. De la 1939 la 1954, premiul cel mare a fost Grand Prix du Festival International du Film [1] Din 1964 - 1974 a fost înlocuit din nou de Grand Prix du Festival ,[2].

Istoria Palme d'Or a început cu adevărat în 1954[3]. Inițial, cel mai mare premiu al evenimentului a fost numit "Marele Premiu al Festivalului" și a fost acordat ca un trofeu conceput de un artist la modă la aceea vreme.
La sfârșitul anului 1954, la inițiativa lui Robert Favre Le Bret, Consiliul de Administrație al Festivalului va invita bijutierii să depună mai multe proiecte de frunză de palmier, simbol prezent pe o serie de arme stocate în orașul vechi din Cannes[3]. Proiectul ales a fost al lui Lucienne Lazon. Odată realizat, premiul a fost numit "Palme d’Or" și în 1955 a revenit sub acest nume pentru prima dată, regizorului de film american Delbert Mann pentru filmul Marty [3].
