Kansas City, Kansas este cel de-al treilea oraș ca mărime din statul Kansas și sediul comitatului Wyandotte din Statele Unite. Este cunoscut în mod uzual sub acronimul "KCK" pentru a-l diferenția de "celălat" Kansas City, Kansas City, Missouri, care este cunoscut ca "KC" (ori chiar "KCM"). Este considerat o suburbie a orașului Kansas City, statul 
Missouri, fiind cel de-al treilea oraș ca mărime a zonei metropolitane omonime, Kansas City Metropolitan Area, o regiune care cuprinde peste două milioane de locuitori.
Guvernul local al orașului Kansas City, Kansas și cu guvernul local al comitatului al cărui sediu orașul era, comitatul Wyandotte, s-au unificat (conform unui vot afirmativ al localnicilor din 1997) realizând o entitate administrativă oraș-comitat unificată (în engleză, "Consolidated city-county"),[1] care include și localitățile Bonner Springs și Edwardsville, alte două orașe. Conform datelor furnizate de United States Census Bureau, la data recensământului din anul 2000, populația orașului era de 146.867 de locuitori. O estimare a aceeași agenții guvernamentale pentru 2009, considerase că populația ar fi crescut la 143.209.[2]
Orașul, care este situat exact la confluența fluviului Missouri cu râul Kansas, în zona cunoscută sub numele Kaw Point, fusese între 1890 și 1960 una dintre cele mai mari localități urbane ale națiunii americane. În anul 1920, orașul atinsese o populație de peste 100.000 de locuitori.[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 127.8 sq mi ( 331.0 km²). 124.3 sq mi (321.8 km²) of it is land and 3.5 sq mi (9.2 km²) of it is water.

Kansas City is situated in "Tornado Alley", a broad region where cold air from the Rocky Mountains and Canada collides with warm air from the Gulf of Mexico, leading to the formation of powerful storms. The most recent tornado to strike Kansas City itself was in May 2003. The region is also prone to ice storms, such as the 2002 ice storm during which hundreds of thousands lost power for days and (in some cases) weeks.[4] The MoKan area was subject to flooding, including the Great Flood of 1993 and the Great Flood of 1951.

- K-7: A freeway linking Leavenworth County, Kansas, Wyandotte County, Kansas, Johnson County, Kansas, and Douglas County, Kansas.
