Istoricul obiectului
Deutsch: Das Wappen verweist auf den Pfälzer Löwen und die seit 1358 herrschenden Wittelsbacher Stadtherren, die die (weiß-blauen) bayerischen Wecken im Wappen führten. Das Wappen wurde 1901 genehmigt und bezieht sich auf das älteste Siegel, datiert vor 1400.
English: Simmern was a possession of the Raugraves until 1358, when it became a possession of the Wittelsbach family, Counts of the Electoral Palatinate. In 1555 Simmern received city rights. The arms were granted in 1901 and are based on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from the late 13th century. The upper half shows the lion of Palatinate, the lower the lozenges of the Wittelsbach family.
